Jo Avery

A lifetime of playing with fabric and yarn has culminated in a career as a teacher, entrepreneur and designer. Jo’s natural affinity with colour and detail informs all her quilts as well as a love of intricate techniques such as needle-turn applique and embroidery. Straddling both modern and traditional quilting, she enjoys inspiring others through her workshops and retreats.

Jo designs quilts and embroideries for a wide range of quilting publications and books. Her two books New Patchwork and Quilting Basics and Modern Crewel Embroidery are published by Stash Books and are available here

Alongside Karen Lewis and Lynne Goldsworthy she is part of  The Thread House.  Together they organise Sewing Retreats and host an Online Teaching Academy.

Jo is a certified Aurifilosopher and can now be booked for a fun and informative Aurifiloshophy Presentation, both physical (within an hour’s travel time) and via zoom anywhere in the world  Find out more here.
